2017 HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA

​​This event is Indianola’s kick-off to the holiday season here in town and features lots of FREE entertainment for young and old alike. Event highlights include: Lighting of the Trees on the Square, The new Festival of Trees, photos with Santa, Holiday Children’s Store, horse drawn carriage rides, your favorite cartoon characters, live musical groups, photo booth, holiday shopping, yummy food, and Lighted Parade!  A not to miss event!

HOLIDAY LINE-UP AND SCHEUDLE

SANTA HOUSE -  Bring your camera for pictures with Santa
CHILDREN'S STORE - Let the kids pick up something special for mom and dad this holiday season (free to young children) (Store located inside Regions Bank on the square.)
HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES - Take a stroll around the square and enjoy all of the sights and scenes
KIDS ACTIVITIES:  Photo Booth, Make Holiday Cards, Decorate Cookies, Musical Performances, and More!
ELF ENTERTAINMENT STAGE: Enjoy music performed by local talent on the southwest corner of the square - VIEW/PRINT ENTERTAINMENT STAGE LINE-UP  
CARTOON CHARACTERS:  Get your picture taken with Elsa, Belle, Captain America, and other fun characters - VIEW/PRINT MOVIE CHARACTER PAVILION LINE-UP

LIGHTED PARADE

In addition to the wonderful restaurants located on the square, participants can enjoy bread pudding, peanut brittle, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and more yummy treats!  
​THE FESTIVAL OF TREES  NEW this year!  Rock around the downtown square and enjoy 45 beautifully decorated trees!  Trees will be judged on December 1 during the Holiday Extravaganza by the community.  Prizes will be given for:  Peoples Choice, Most Creative, and Best Theme.  

Enjoy the magic of the holidays throughout the season while you shop the downtown square for those unique gifts for family and friends!

SANTA'S HOUSE

Join us on the southeast corner of the square to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Bring your camera to snag a priceless photo with them in this traditional holiday classic!  Santa's House opens at 5 p.m. on December 1!  You can also visit Santa on December 7th & 14th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the downtown square.  ​ Bring the kids for a picture with Santa, enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride, and pick up that last minute gift!

MOVIE CHARACTER PAVILION

Take pictures with your favorite ​holiday cartoon characters including the Snow Queen, Belle, Captain America, Spiderman, Olaf, Minion, and the Grinch in our Movie Character Pavilion! LIGHTING OF THE TREES

Don't miss the lighting of trees on the downtown square!  This holiday tradition marks the beginning of many of our local festivities. Lighting of the trees is at 6:30 pm on the northeast corner of the square on December, 2017.

HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES

Enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride and capture the magic of the night with family and friends!  You can also enjoy this holiday favorite on the Indianola downtown square December 7th & 14th 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Bring the kids for a picture with Santa, enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride, and pick up that last minute gift!

POLAR EXPRESS TRAIN RIDES

Enjoy a train ride provided by Community 1st Credit Union.  Train station located on the northeast corner of the square.

CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY MARKET

Kids can pick out a gift for mom, dad, or that special person in their lives!  Located inside Regions Bank on the square!

LIVE NATIVITY SCENE

Enjoy a live nativity scene provided by the First Assembly of God.

LIGHTED PARADE

The Lighted Parade is Indianola's favorite holiday tradition! Watch local business and organizations parade around the square in beautifully designed displays mixing tradition with creative ideas! The parade will start at the Methodist Church then go east on Salem, north on Howard, west on Ashland, then back to the church!
The Holiday Extravaganza - A Holiday Favorite
End the night when the square is lit by beautifully decorated parade entries hosted by local businesses and organizations.  A holiday favorite that makes Indianola unique!
