Jay Byers and Andrei Murphy Join Indianola Chamber of Commerce

The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Jay Byers, President of Simpson College and Andrei Murphy, Owner and President of Retirement Solutions of Iowa have been named to its Board of Directors.
A 1993 graduate from Simpson College, Byers has been in multiple leadership roles, including previously serving as the President and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership for the past 11 years. The Partnership became the fourth largest regional chamber of commerce in the country under his leadership, expanding to 11 counties and 24 Affiliate Chambers of Commerce with more than 6,5000 members. In addition, Byers has chaired the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives at the national level and the Iowa Chamber Alliance at the statewide level. Internationally, he served three terms as the U.S. representative on the International Chamber of Commerce World Chambers Federation General Council and was also a member the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Committee of 100 for 11 years.
Byers understands the influence and role that a Chamber of Commerce can play in the economic growth and vitality of a community. His insight and leadership will play an important role, not only in the direction and growth of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, but the relationship of Simpson College with the business community.
“I am a strong believer in the importance of Chambers of Commerce to the overall success of communities. I also believe that Simpson College needs to be a community leader and actively engaged in the Indianola Chamber of Commerce.” Byers shared. “A stronger city and business community makes a college stronger. And a stronger college makes a city and businesses community stronger. Together, we can make big things happen!”
Andrei Murphy, President of Retirement Solutions of Iowa LLC, is a local business owner providing insurance solutions and financial advisory services. Murphy has an extensive background serving in a board capacity, including serving as the current board chair of the Des Moines non-profit, “Rock ‘n Prevention.” Murphy’s involvement has included serving on Executive and Financial committees and providing strategic direction for organizations.
Murphy has been a very strong supporter of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, as an investor and volunteer, and brings a wealth of knowledge that will help bring the Indianola Chamber of Commerce to the next level. In addition, Murphy is an outside the box thinker that is excited to help our community evolve.
“Being a part of a community as a business owner is vital to both the community and business,
not only in engagement, but for future development and growth.” Murphy shared, “Utilizing personal strengths to promote growth and assist in development is a way of giving back to this community.”
